La jugadora mide 195 de estatura, nació el 12 de octubre de 1980 en Sint – Niklaas (Bélgica). Ann Wauters empezó a jugar al baloncesto a los doce años.
Su carrera profesional internacional comenzó inmediatamente después de la escuela secundaria y luciendo en su camiseta el número 12 conmemorando su fecha de nacimiento.
Formándose en la liga belga con el Oost Vlaanderedn´94 y pasando por el Osiris Aalost (1995-98), su progresión hizo estragos y rápidamente fue llamada por uno de los grandes de Europa, el USVO Valenciennes (1998-04).
Fueron temporadas mágicas para la pívot con el club francés, allí, obtuvo cuatro títulos nacionales («01,»02,»03,»04), tres Copas de Francia («01,»03,»04), dos títulos del torneo francés Federación («02 «, 03) y, por supuesto, dos coronas de la Euroliga. La primera fue en 2002 en el centro de Valenciennes, donde promedió casi 23 puntos y nueve rebotes por juego y la segunda en 2004. En su primera campaña de la Euroliga en 2001, terminó como máximo anotadora con 20.9 puntos por encuentro. Ha sido dos veces nombrada MVP de la Liga Francesa.
Números y títulos que hicieron que la mayor potencia del baloncesto llamara a su puerta, así Ann Wauters recaló con el BC Volgaburmash Samara, después denominado el CSKA de Moscú (2005/09).
Durante su primera temporada con Samara, Wauters ganó su tercera Euroliga y nombrada por 4 ocasión MVP. Convirtiéndose en la única jugadora en participar siete veces de forma consecutiva en la Final Four de la Euroliga. La belga además ha conseguido tres Copa de Rusia (´06, ´07, ´08) y dos Ligas Rusas (´05, ´06).
En Estados Unidos también es una jugadora de gran renombre, considerada como un talento en bruto, fue drafteada como número 1 por Cleveland Rockers (´00,´01,´02), el 25 de abril del 2000.
Se mezcla rápidamente su nombre al de grandes franquicias. En 2004 se trasladó a las Liberty de Nueva York, jugando dos temporadas (´04,´05), y terminando en 2005 con un promedio de 13.7 puntos y 6.6 rebotes por juego antes de salir de la WNBA en 2006. La belga decidió ausentarse de la liga americana en las temporadas 2006 y 2007, para descansar y para tratar de ayudar a su selección belga de clasificarse para los Juegos Olímpicos de 2008, aunque no obtuvo el pasaporte.
El 6 de febrero de 2008, Wauters fue seleccionado por Atlanta Dream en el proyecto de expansión, adquirido finalmente por San Antonio Silver Stars en 2008, esa temporada Ann Wauters promedio sus mejores estadísticas en la liga con 14.7 puntos y 7.5 rebotes de media, convirtiéndose en campeona de la conferencia oeste y finalista de la WNBA..
La jugadora es una de las más grandes figuras del baloncesto Mundial. En 2003, Ann Wauters llevó a su querida Bélgica a la primera aparición en un EuroBasket desde 1985. En Grecia, promedio 18.8 puntos de media, tercer mejor marca del torneo. The player is 1,95m tall, was born on 12th October, 1980 in Sint – Niklaas (Belgic). Ann Wauters stared playing when she was twelve. Her international carrier has started right after her graduation in high school when she choose to play with the number twelve, celebrating the day of her birthday.

Ann had magical seasons in the French club, where she got four national titles («01,»02,»03,»04), three French Cups («01,»03,»04), two tournament French titles («02 «, 03), and of course, two crowns of the league. In her first Euroleague in 2001, she was the best scorer with 20,9 points per game. She was also named twice MVP of the French league. During her first season with Samara, Wauters won her third Euro league and was named for the fourth time MVP, becoming the only one woman who played seven times in a row in the Euro league Final Four. Besides this, the Belgian won three Russian Cups (´06, ´07, ´08) and two Russian Leagues (´05, ´06).
In the United States she got her space too, and was named First pick in WNBA in 2000 by Cleveland Rockers, where she played for 3 years. In 2004, she was traded to one of the most important teams in the league, the New York Liberty, where she played for 2 years, and got 13.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game
On 6th February 2008, Wauters was selected by Atlanta Dream and then traded with San Antonio Silver Stars where her best numbers scoring 14,7 points and grabbing 7,5 rebounds per game, becoming champion of the eastern conference and WNBA finalist.
Ann is one of the best players in the world. In 2003, Wauters was the responsible to take Belgium to their first appearance in the Euro Basket, since 1985. In Greece, she got 18,8 points, the third best scorer in the tournament. She was also the key to her selection get the Euro Basket 2007 in Italy when she had incredible 23,8 points and 10,5 rebounds.
